Pointolite 150CP AC Control Gear

I never thought I would be able to light our 150CP AC lamp, as the special bayonet lampholder is very hard to come by. However, this set of gear showed up on eBay, so we had to get it..!

It does work, but the wiring is in very poor condition, as seen in the closeup of where the 4-way flex enters the lampholder, so it will need to be rewired before we can use it safely. We did try it briefly, and the resistance gets very hot in use, almost 300°C, but seems to be fairly stable in operation.

Since this was taken, we have replaced the dangerous wiring with new flex that is authentic in appearance so as not to detract from the authenticity of the equipment. See here for an up to date photo.

It was a very satisfying job to do, and when we sent pictures of the finished article to the seller, he was absolutely delighted that it hadn't fallen into the hands of an 'upcycler'. Very Happy
What a palaver it was making up the four core flex leading to the lamp holder... Mind Blown

Yeah, they don't make that, so we had to get two lengths of twin core and wind them up together Rolling Eyes
