This is a small selection of lamps I have on display, but shown here wired in series and powered from a 'oil-burner' transformer.  The 'black' light isn't in the circuit.  From right to left: Philips HPLR, GE SON/T 1kW, GEC MBF/U 125W, GE 400W SON, GE 400W halide multivapor.

BTW, is the GE an LU400/DX?

The GE lamp is marked MRV400U/40. It has a lovely warm colour very similar to tungsten. Also seem very stable as I have tried running on various ballasts including mercury and high pressure sodium.
