Pity about the ballast, but you do what you have to do, it works and nobody looking at it when mounted would know the difference. An acceptable modification in my opinion, well done. GoldFinger

@Ria - Agreed, the ballast was one of those F-can style ballasts as well where everything was inside a sealed potted assembly. I suppose if I wanted to keep the original appearance, I could salvage the original ballast enclosure and fit the electronic ballast inside it. I considered getting a magnetic SOX ballast but I then would have had to build a geartray to hold it inside.

@AgentHalogen_87 - I found that interesting too, I wonder why they turned it into a SOX luminaire for the Canadian market. It would be interesting to build one for dual tubes, maybe 35w F24HOs to use Canadian spec lamps.

It would have been 2x 2ft 40W T12 lamps originally, but 20W T12 and 18W T8s would also fit in, so you have a range of lamps to pick from and match the gear to Smile
