Philips XL 20W Induction Lamp

Here is a sample Philips XL induction lamp, which sadly did not make it into production, primarily due to the fact that the emerging CFL lamps were more cost-effective to manufacture. The silver stripes on the bulb are there to reduce magnetic fields, removing the problem of induced currents in the mains terminals.

Don't forget the electrically-conducting fluorine-doped stannic oxide coating applied between the glass bulb and the phosphor layer! This coating is electrically connected to one terminal of the lamp so as to block the electric field radiated by the central antenna.
