Modified HQI-TS 150W/NDL Excellence
|
A few years ago I upgraded a couple of professional 500 W tungsten-halogen luminaires to MH in order to illuminate my lab space at work. I was initially planning on using CDM-TDs but given the dimensions of the R7s socket, I could only use 70 W lamps, which was too small for the application. So, I went for an Osram HQI-TS 150W/NDL Excellence which I shortened to 117 mm. I also ground its outer bulb surface with a silicon carbide cutting disk so as to reduce glare. The picture above shows the end result, which in the field looks even better as the performances and characteristics (except the CRI) of that lamp are actually better than those of the Philips CDM-TD 150W/942.
