GEC 60W SLI/H 3

As the lamp warms up parts of its discharge tube fills up with sodium vapor, whose orange light emission replaces the bluish-white light of its noble-gas buffer fill. This process is not homogeneous because the distribution of sodium is not even across the burner, whose intricate shape does not promote an easy diffusion of the metal vapor from its points of origin. Such process certainly results in quite a spectacular run up phase.
