The glass bulbs used in lamps where once made by skilled glassblowers, a practice which ended following the development and introduction of glass ribbon machines in the mid-1920s. However, some special bulbs for extremely low-volume productions were still made by hand until the late 20th century. The picture above shows the glass bulb still attached to the blowpipe.
