Ballast for Philips Spectral Lamps

A recent eBay find, this is a ballast for the Philips series of spectral lamps, mounted in a metal project box. It's obviously not a commercial product, as there is no brand name, so I'm assuming it was put together by someone in a college lab or some such place where they used spectral lamps. It works well, although I think they used the wrong value of PFC capacitor, as the PFC when measured is way lower than it should be. Some experimentation with different values is called for..!

Wonderful to have the correct gear to run our spectral lampses on. Cool

It's virtually the same as a 90W SOX leak transformer ballast, but labelled for use with spectral lamps. A 90W SOX lamp runs perfectly on it..!

Tomorrow we'll build a board so that we can have four lamps on at once.
