Installing a Belisha beacon base kit
It was quite a task getting everything to fit in the base compartment, as the cut-out was placed a bit high. But I managed it. This is the base kit for a Belisha beacon and crossing light, which stands by our 'zebra' crossings, complete with a Royce Thompson Rotaflash relay for the beacon. I did my best to do a neat job with the wires.
I'm quite pleased with this job, if I do say so myself.

All the ones around here have been retrofitted to you-know-what, unfortunately Bulb Man

Same with these ones. Originally with 60 / 100W tungstens on Rotaflash relays, we switched to 12V 50W halogen capsule lamps like you get in traffic signals on one part transformer thermal flasher base adapters. Now we're back to the Rotaflash units and using household style Philips lamps in them.

Things like this I don't really mind the dreaded things tbh. Not used as illumination lighting, but as marker lighting. Yes the fade in / fade out of the tungsten / halogens is more smooth and soothing than a sharp on / off, but flashing constantly 24/7 isn't that brilliant on filaments is it Confused Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

It doesn't actually make that much difference on the life of an incandescent lamp, believe it or not. So I heard, anyway.

Interesting development for me. All the boxes of GLS lamps always say they are rated for so many switch on/off cycles

Don't know where I heard it. somewhere on LG probably. Anyway, a Belisha beacon should have an incandescent lamp in it. end of story Razz Bulb Man
