F48PG17 Striplight
I picked up a couple of these 4ft HO single lamp striplights a while back from the Restore in order to have a fixture to run my F48 PG17 power groove lamps in. It even came stock with the taller RDC lampholders that better accommodate the wider PG17 lamps than the standard height ones.

Anyway the light is NOS from 1979 and has a vintage Universal ballast wired for single lamp operation. Interestingly unlike most single lamp HO strips, this one has a single lamp sized channel. Most of single lamp HO strips have a standard two lamp sized channel but with a single set of lampholders instead.

I do have a used F48 PG17 single lamp ballast I could put in this but I kept the light HO mainly since it seems the 4ft PG17 lamps ironically have a high risk of early failure when run on the proper VHO ballast and I've heard good things from the other members here that have ran their lamps on HO.

We've got a couple of these, we had to build a board to run ours on though. Got a picture of it somewhere, must fish it out, watch this space..!

That's nice! I've always liked PowerGroove lamps, they are (were) so unusual here in Europe.

@Sammi - Thanks! I find the PG17 lamps display quite nicely in this fixture with nice proportions to the fixture body, standard T12 lamps look too skinny in it. Similar to how T8 lamps look in a T12 fixture.

@Ria - Nice, rare to see the PGs outside NA. I found these strips a few months after I found the PG lamps. A two lamp turret industrial style fixture would also look great with PG17s but is much larger and I couldn't find on.

@Max - Thanks. They are pretty rare in Canada as well, although they were used for roadway lighting in the past.

I'd love to get a PowerGroove but they're just too damned expensive right now .

Yeah the prices for these are insane now. It's too bad as they're pretty cool lamps.

I found a 2 lamp strip with a pair of these on Craigslist for $35 !! It was sold by the time I messaged the seller !

Very good looking lamp, but is it missing a groove on the close end of the tube? Wonder
