AKG D202 Studio Microphone
|
Here is an old classic of the audio world, the AKG D202 dual-capsule cardioid microphone. This particular model was the stalwart of BBC radio back in the 1970's; I first remember seeing them in the studios of BBC Radio Birmingham (now BBC WM) at Pebble Mill in around 1975, when I knew one of the DJs there. I bought one myself not long after, but rather foolishly sold it and had been wishing I could find one ever since. This one came up on eBay at a very reasonable price a few weeks ago, so I had to have it..!
For those thinking it's the same type of microphone as used in the UK House of Commons, it isn't; there they use the D222, which is a slightly later variant with a different frequency response.
