Beautiful Fuse-box made like furniture

Before the days of over regulated electrical safety this was a perfectly safe installation. All the fuses you needed for a large property, in an attractive mahogany box. The fuses here are all 15A rated. Two carriers are missing.  Notice this predates TN-C etc. there are no earth connections here. Fuses are provided in pairs, one for each side of the feed in red and black cloth covered rubber cables. While this arrangement may only blow one fuse and not fully isolate a circuit. TN-C is not without its issues these days either.

Good old ceramics, we very rarely have them in street lighting as well; usually wired with 6A wire rather than 15.

Ah, yes. Remember these ceramic fuses were in single units in street lighting many years ago.
