Philips 240/250V 60/100/160W Argenta Lamp
|
Although very common in the US and Canada, three-way lamps never really took off over here; as far as I'm aware, Philips were the only manufacturer to offer them in the UK. They are consequently very rare, until now I have not personally seen one since 1970..!
This is a recently acquired example from July 1966 and is rated at 60/100/160W, they were also offered in a 40/60/100W rating. Originally they came with an adaptor to plug into a normal UK bayonet socket, but those are probably rarer than the lamps, so for the lit picture here I have used a US E26d 3-way socket. I've only shown one lit image, as my camera can't really detect the differences between the three ratings all that well.
