What a superb and unique specimen! Is the Dewar made of mass-tinted glass, or is it just externally coated?
It's definitely not externally coated, it seems to be tinted glass. I've heard that there is a blue version of this, but I've not come across one.
A blue version? For a monochromatic orange light source??

I've seen a darkroom housing and filter for this size and type of lamp. However it had a regular SO/H inside. Makes me think the original had been replaced at some point in its use and the filtered lamp was harder to find. Although that should only happen in the Dewar had been broken at some point.

@Max - I'm only going on what I've been told, can't remember who said it now, one of the LG crowd anyway

A very interesting lamp Ria

It is, not too many of them about, only ever seen one other.

We thought that we had paid over the odds for this lamp, and a couple of others, but by the time you added in the 'bonus buys' we got when we collected the lamp it was a bargain.!
