We've now built a board for this and the ballast we got has enough oomph to run two of these tubes, and thanks to Blubman we have more of the lamp holders, and we will be getting another Powergroove tube in a couple of weeks.!

Powergrooves are interesting lamps. Never found one in the wild and have become rare now. Think they are all quite long lamps. What wattage is this one?

As far as I know they come in two flavours 4' and 8', ours is a 4' tube and the ballast can run either 1 8' tube or 2 4' tubes and is rated at 175W.

The present 48-inch PowerGroove is rated 110 W if I remember correctly. I really like those crescent-shaped high-output fluorescent tubes, their design is so unusual, especially on our side of the pond (i.e., Europe).

Thanks for the info.

I just looked at the label on the ballast (should have done that first Laughing ) and a single 4ft tube is rated at 116W. It also says there was a 72" (6ft) version rated at 165W.

Interesting to see one of these in the UK. It took me years to find some, at when it did it was a lucky find at the Restore.

We used to use these and the 72" version for roadway lighting, most of those installs are long gone now.

Andy imported a whole case after loads of people on this side of the pond had shown an interest in having one, then they changed their minds... Angry Cursing
