Nice one Joe! Is this running in your Philips Goldeye?

Nice one indeed, a real classic. Note that Osram never "adopted the Philips style outer envelope", they just quit producing SOX lamps and outsourced the lamps from Philips, with some alterations done to the burner (removal of the dimples) and the ITO coating on the outer bulb (varying thickness).

@Ria & Sammi - Thanks! The Osrams (at least the real ones) aren't that common here as most SOX lamps I've come across here were Philips.

@Cobrahead - Thanks, yup it's running in my Goldeye

@Max, Thanks. Interesting that's the reason why the newer Osram lamps looked more like Philips lamps. I guess it made more sense compared to keeping their own production. Much like what's happening with fluorescent lamps in 2025, with a lot of lamp manufacturing getting consolidated.

Yes, for those companies it's all about maintaining their profit margins and market share for as long as possible, and when there is no product innovation anymore, the best way to do that is to share manufacturing efforts with other companies in order to minimize production costs.
