Goodie bag

Got this little lot when Mad Max (aka [s]Bulbman[/s]Blubman256) visited last month..! I've been after some US switches and sockets for a while, to make ballast boards etc. with some of the American ballasts we've acquired over the years, so these will come in very handy. In fact they already have, as I fitted a switch to the ballast board for our Powergroove lamps (photo to follow, watch this space..!)

There's not a lot of room in the US back boxes compared to the UK ones... Confused

I'm happy these made it safe, I was pretty sure TSA wasn't gonna like me bringing all this on a plane... Laughing Glad to see these parts are going to be put to good use. Cool

@Sammi: Yeah that is quite the issue over here, at least for some of the metal ones. The shallow boxes that I have are even worse than the ones I gave you. I ended up having to change the switchbox in my grandmother's basement for this very reason as it would not fit 2 cables coming in + a switch/outlet combo. Most of the plastic boxes are less durable but are far more spacious.

Now if you were bringing over a ballast, it might have been a different story.! Shocked

They're deep enough for the relatively shallow switches and outlets, though. But those exposed wires on the side when you remove the faceplate worry me..! I like the sockets we have, especially the new MK ones with Wago style connectors.

I've seen some of the metal boxes that have a rather large protrusion inside for attaching the ground wire which takes up lots of needed real estate .

Yup, they've got them... Rolling Eyes

Figured ! I understand why they're there but I fail to understand why they needed to be so big !

That's one of life's great mysteries... Laughing
