70W High Pressure Sodium lamps These are two 70W Philip HP sodium lamps SON/T and SON versions. The SON is quite an early entry to the Philips 70W range. It has an internal glow-bottle starter and a bi-metal strip to disengage it from operating while the lamp is still hot. The SON/T version requires an external ignitor but has an internal wire to aid starting. This is removed from the arc tube surface by the bi-metal strip when running. Keywords: Lamps

The left one (SON/T 70W) is quite interesting. It has a transitional design between the old one (barium getter and wire antenna) and the new (last) one (pellet getter and sintered antenna).
