Interesting unit, looks almost ceiling recess lighting. The voltage makes me wonder if it is design for a large installation. The semiconductor and CRT manufacturing industries have light sensitive process where large areas used to be lit by sodium lighting. I would have thought they would have used a diffuse cover though.

I remember seeing a BBC Trade Test film on the manufacture of CRTs, they used sodium lighting in the areas of the factory where the various phosphors were used.

One of my forever favourite trade-test films! I just loved watching that as a kid. Apparently, I drew so many pictures of CRTs my parents took me to a psychiatrist Laughing

Very nice light, FCO SOX is quite a rarity in America but so is anything else LPS. I have a friend I could ask about getting a 135w ballast from, if you want me to. Cool

Thanks everyone ! Mounting this in a suspended ceiling would be an interesting idea ! The mounting/wire holes are on the side of the fixture next to the lamp all are arranged in a vertical orientation like the mounting hole pattern of a shoebox . I'll have to watch the video when I get a chance .

@ Mad Max : Sure . I know of a couple on eBay right now . One is about $75 incl. shipping .
