3kVA Variable Transformer

Here is our variable transformer, this one is rated at 3kVA/10.8A which should handle most things we're likely to throw at it. The front panel voltmeter has been checked against our multimeter and is as accurate as it can be measuring whole volts only. The only grumble I have with it is the 13A socket on the front does not have shutters on the line and neutral connections, which is a big no-no by the electrical regulations here.

We do have a socket with shutters that we thought might work, but it's a different physical size. Sad bulb icon

Nice variac, I have a old 2000 VA unit from Superior Electric. As for the shutters, I prefer outlets on test equipment like this to not have them since they're (usually) operated by trained personnel and it makes it easier to probe the receptacle if needed.

I have a another smaller variac I originally built with a outlet with a shutter but I later replaced it with a regular outlet.
