SOX 35 vs PL 36
Time for a comparison! I have a modified Simplex Aries to take 36W PL-L, and a standard one running 35W SOX. By having the exact same lantern for SOX and PL, I aim to make this comparison as fair as possible.

This is the mounted setup during the daytime, both lanterns are on and at full brightness as a proof of concept.

It would be interesting to see this comparison in a real street lighting scenario. White light is probably ok in a garden, but it's not the best choice for street lighting IMO.

I unfortunately don't have an entire street to play with, so your idea will have to wait Razz

I can't leave things running overnight, and I can't do anything permanent. But as long as I'm happy, they don't mind what I do. Smile

Just tell them it's a new security light... Laughing

Photon has a Beta 5 with an 18W SOX in it as a light outside his front door, you could try that Razz

No 18 watters unfortunately Confused I'm happy with that bracket on the climbing frame. As well as the 150W Arc behind it, All my lighting needs for the garden are solved.
