Royal Ediswan 100CP Pointolite Lamp - Circuit
Here is the circuit we used to light our [url=https://trad-lighting.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=250][b]100CP Pointolite lamp[/b][/url], design courtesy of Andy (Photonicinduction). It consists of a 65W fluorescent choke feeding a full wave bridge rectifier to run the lamp, the ignition is achieved by the simple use of a 6V battery (a 4Ah SLA battery is recommended), which just needs to be applied for 4 or 5 seconds, then when it is removed the arc should strike. [color=red][i][b]Do not leave the battery connected, use a momentary switch.[/b][/i][/color]

Note - this circuit is for a 240V 50Hz supply, you may need to experiment to find the correct value of ballast for 120V 60Hz mains.

Very similar principle for running a Deuterium lamp. Once the arc strikes so long as the current is sufficient the cathode doesn't need external heating.
