Philips PowerWhite 125W MBF/U lamp with E40 cap

Here is a 125W Philips PowerWhite lamp with an E40 cap, somewhat unusual for this size of lamp. The date code on the lamp reads 1K which is either October 1971 or 1991, I would have assumed 1971 but there is a label on the wrapper with the date of October 1990 on it, so I have no idea..? Can anyone help..? During what period were PowerWhite lamps made at Hamilton..?

Can't help you with the data, but it's a nice lamp! Bulb Man

Nice one indeed, it's so unusual to see the once ubiquitous 125 W HPMV lamp with an oversized end cap... As for the manufacturing date, I think mercury lamps were made at the Hamilton factory up until the 1990s, so '91 wouldn't be incorrect. however, the style of the paper wrap is more consistent with the 70s, so maybe this is a '71 lamp and the "Oct 1990" sticker was added way later by some retailer. Overall, I'd go for 1971 based on the style of the stamp on the lamp, and the art on the wrapper.

Thanks, I tend to agree with that, 1971 it is.
