Internal support construction
The image is of two 90 SOX lamps manufactured by Philips, Hamilton. The lamps date from the 1970s. It is interesting to note the complexity of the discharge tube supports at this time. The top lamp is slightly older than the lower and I see this construction in fewer lamps, so it may not have been used for long. It certainly has more material in its construction and requires at least 20 spot-welds to construct while only 16 welds are required for the wire frame type.

I've always been impressed by that wire frame construction of the lower image LPS

The later lamps from Philips were not so well made Confused
