Network Rack

Here is our main network rack. From the top, we have:

1. Patch panel to all the RJ45 Ethernet sockets around the place, plus the link from the router, the direct phone line that is connected to the fax machine (yes, we still have one..!) plus outputs from the analogue phone adaptors, etc.

2. Thermostatically controlled cooling fan

3. Main 24-port Netgear GS724T gigabit switch.

4. Shelf for the comms stuff, containing an auxiliary PoE switch for the IP phones (the main switch is not PoE equipped), the main Linksys SPA9000 IP PBX for the main phone numbers, and finally a secondary PAP2T phone adaptor connected to the CNet system.

5. Two NAS devices, on the left a Lenovo 4TB ix4-300d, on the right a Buffalo 2TB Terastation Pro. Not a huge amount of storage by today's standards, but it's enough for us and they also have the advantage of running Raid 5 to help prevent data loss in the event of a drive failure.

The whole lot is powered from an APC SmartUPS SRT3000XLI Uninterruptible Power Supply, which also powers the AVM Fritz!Box 7530 Router and the fibre ONT, which are located where the incoming fibre terminates and are linked via Ethernet to the rack here.

Oh, before anybody comments, yes it's dusty down there, we don't clean enough, ok..?!
