I also had the low pressure mercury shown here, but it seemed to become mercury starved and eventually refused to light.

That's unfortunate, these lamps don't come up very often, and when they do they're not cheap Sad bulb icon

Think they are becoming even rarer as once common in schools and colleges, they don't seem to get used for education anymore.

I agree, those spectral lamps are really rare nowadays.
