I've always liked these Super De-Luxe lamps, did they make the 50w in an E17 envelope? I ask that because I happen to have a 50w merc ballast and I've heard the US and UK/Euro 50w merc specs are the same.

Osram certainly did offer its HQL Super de Luxe lamps in the standard 50 W configuration, listed with the same lumen output as that of the globe variant.

Yes, we've found the photos of the ones we have now (thanks to Michael in Switzerland), also we have the 125W version. Were those ever made in globe format, I wonder..?

Nope, Osram never made the 125 W variant available in globe shape. Those lamps were specifically meant for decorative applications where the lamps are in plain view, and the 5700 lm of the 125 W makes it way too bright for that.
