Living-room HID uplighter v.4.2 - fixing acoustics
|
In the gen. 4.2 variant of my living-room HID uplighter I solved a particularly annoying issue which involved the central Philips SDW-T 35W: Its operation on a low-frequency square-wave electronic power supply results in the emission of audible noise, which is amplified by the luminaire's metallic structure. I solved this problem by isolating the lamp from the luminaire. To that end I added four silicone holders to keep the lamp in place, and I removed its PG12 socket and I sheathed its lead wires with silicone sleeves. This way, vibrations from the lamp are not transmitted to the luminaire, and it is now dead quiet!
