Economical landscape illumination

It is an advantage of dark countryside places that little power is needed to provide an effective illumination. In your opinion, what light source and how many Watts did I use to illuminate those several hectares of field?

Of course, if your cover all possible numbers from 1 to "lots", you're bound to be correct Wink I used one lamp only. Any idea of the kind and wattage? Must be huge, right?

Interesting, right away I would have guessed something like a 3kW XBO lamp, but some stars are visible suggesting there was a bit of time exposure involved. So perhaps a lower wattage or even a couple of 100 W mercury-halide Confused

Well, congratulation, you got a lot right there: this is indeed a long exposure shot in which I scanned the landscape with a 200 W UHP lamp, which technically is a mercury-halide lamp indeed (not in the metal halide sense, but in the mercury with halogens to keep the bulb clean sense).

Ah. I missed the fact you had scanned the scene. One interesting point is the trail line on the right hand side of the image. I guess this may have been a bird or insect in flight that caused this. Also quite a lot of scattered blue light, hence not suspecting a tungsten halogen.

It is a cracking picture though.! Love Mind Blown

Thanks Sammi, I had a lot of fun making it. I should re-shoot it again with a modern camera and a proper lens though.

Tuopeek - The bright trail on the right is likely from a bat. Those are relatively common there.
