Homemade 22w Circline adapter
I made this thing last weekend with fellow collector Lumex120 in an attempt to design a better Circline adapter as most tend to be non-servicable and under powered. There's another half complete one that we didn't have time to finish up, Lumex will finish assembly on that one at a later date. This particular model is based off a 4" octagon electrical box, featuring an F25T12 choke ballast and replaceable starter socket. This unit is quite heavy and the design of the clips needs some fine tuning as they tend to hold the tube quite tight. Otherwise it came out pretty decent for a first go around prototype.

Nice project, but watch out for a potential risk of electrocution as your metal box is certainly not grounded.

A grounding strap that bolts for the fixture would be a pretty good idea... Wonder We'll have to consider that in the next design. Cool

Or do like CFL manufacturers did, use a plastic casing instead of metal (check for the fire resistance rating of the material used though).

I've seen some older circline adapters use a metal enclosure, but a plastic casing would probably be safer. If you can find a enclosure with a UL94 V-0 rating it should be flame resistant enough.
