                Nice project, but watch out for a potential risk of electrocution as your metal box is certainly not grounded.

                A grounding strap that bolts for the fixture would be a pretty good idea...

                Or do like CFL manufacturers did, use a plastic casing instead of metal (check for the fire resistance rating of the material used though).

                I've seen some older circline adapters use a metal enclosure, but a plastic casing would probably be safer. If you can find a enclosure with a UL94 V-0 rating it should be flame resistant enough.
