Ooh, that's a serious load. You would need a mortgage to pay for the power to run that these days. Nearly maxing out a 13A plug Smile

Nah, a 13A plug can take our 3kW kettle easily, although I must admit the lamp does get almost as warm Mr. Green Incandescent lamp HD

Yeah, 3kW is more the max but the heating can wear the fuse out over time. Smile

Possibly, don't think I've ever had a kettle fuse blow though. Which reminds me, all our kitchen stuff is due a PAT re-test.

What is it with the insistence to limit the wattage of kettles to 'save' energy.? Wonder
Having a kettle rated at 1.5kW it takes twice as long to boil the same volume of water, so you haven't saved anything.! Angry Cursing
Mind you we have seen Photon boil water in a light blub.! Laughing

Exactly, main voltage here is always around 250v and sometimes higher. Kettle will use more but for a shorter time net consumption is the same. Fill with less and don't boil twice Laughing
You PAT test your house hold items Surprised ? I'm so tuned in, if something live or there's an earth fault, I can detect it with the back of my hand. Very Happy

Yep, I portable appliance test test them Razz We're both qualified to do it, so we thought why not..? Our kettle is one of those that boils just a mug of water at a time and dispenses it into the mug, so we can fill it but only boil what is needed.
