Our new workbench

This project has been in the pipeline for quite a while now, but I finally got my act together and constructed it. The worktop itself is made up from two pieces of 18mm plywood screwed together, so it's a really chunky work surface.! That's screwed to the backboard, which in turn is screwed to what remains of the dining table. At the back there are six sockets that are fed from the mains, two Ethernet sockets directly fed from the router, one that is for guests, that can only see t'interweb, while the other one can see our home network. On the right there are four sockets (the ones with red switches) that are connected to the Variac. At the front of the bench I used our router to make a rebate for a 24" steel rule, and a good chunky workshop vice. On top of the work bench we have a silly scope and function generator, a 32A 0-15V DC power supply which feeds our US spec inverter, three quick test connector blocks, one UK 13A, one US and one for 5A, an isolating transformer and our 3kVA Variac.

This is probably the only time it's ever going to look this clean and tidy Mr. Green
