I have never seen one of this wattage before, probably because 1000W reactor and HX ballasts seem to practically non-existent (or at least I haven't heard much about them in the US). Seeing this warm up would be really cool, even if just for a test on CWA, but at the same time it looks so nice in it's current pristine condition. Very nice lamp!

It would be pretty warm actually... Mr. Green

That's quite a unique lamp there. If I'm not mistaken, GTE Sylvania was the only lamp maker to offer this type. I'm with Drew, you should light it up (and post pictures here).

@Drew - This lamp will never be tried on a CWA...to rare to risk.
@Max - A GTE-Sylvania exclusive...I've never seen any mention of a competing option from GE, or Westinghouse/Philips.

@Eric
Good call, I believe it only begins to become harmful as they start to age, but yeah as you said it is not worth the risk

@Drew - I also have a first generation version from 1980...there are some differences in the design...maybe I should post that one too.

@Sammi - Hey, that's my line Razz Mr. Green

I have one of these . I agree with not testing on a CWA . I tried it with mine , it ran up fine and worked for about 20 min. than started cycling . It wont even run all of the way up anymore !

Neat lamp, it's too bad these weren't compatible with CWA ballasts as it's hard to find a 1kW MV ballast that isn't a CWA. The only ones I could think of are the 480v reactors.

@347V - Yeah, I wish that too...it'd be fun to run them up at least once.
