Lanterns/Fixtures / Sorted.!

Ever since I got the shade for John, my Tilley TL106 lamp, I just couldn't get it to stay level.  ???
I've been trying to come up with a solution to the problem...  :wndr:
And now I have one, using a length of round wick 5mm in diameter, I made a ring that sits on the burner, then the shade sits on that and stays level.!  8)
After extensive testing yesterday, I found that it handles the heat, (460°F / 237°C ) without a problem.!

I get something similar, but it's intermittent; and completely random. With my autism, one of the traits is hypersensitive hearing. Sudden sounds startle me, loud sounds are excruciating, and I can't handle more than one person talking to me at a time. I can't hear someone's voice over a lot of background noises. And I now need to wear ear defenders in busy places. My hearing has gotten more and more sensitive in the past 6-7 years. It didn't used to be like that.
But the tinnitus ring is really strange It doesn't come up after a sudden loud sound startles me, but often happens either when I'm sitting in silence, or listening to something through headphones. It only lasts for 10 or 20 seconds, only in one ear. But  which ear it occurs in is completely random, as is wen it happens. I can go days, weeks, even months without anything; or I can get 2 in a day. I haven't found anything that counteracts it yet, but since it's so infrequent and for a short duration, I don't think I would be able to do anything quick enough anyway, and it's better for me to just let it pass. :-\
The tinnitus ring isn't the annoying bit for me. I had to give up my hobby of collecting fire alarms because my hearing became too sensitive to play around with them :(

I suffer from a mild case of tinnitus, and hear a constant high pitched whine of about 11,000 Hz at about 40dB.  :(
It doesn't get in the way of everyday life, but it's bloody annoying.
I've found that a sound-scape of a catses purring is very good at masking what I hear, but so is the hiss of a Tilley lamp.!  8)

A couple of weeks ago the ballast in Gemma got fried, but we got a replacement from Mark (Tuopeek) and it's now been fitted so she's now giving us wonderful SOX light once again.  :posttop:

I've frankly had quite a string of busy and terrible weeks in college (including the fact that my school laptop bit the dust during midterms week :curse: ) and haven't had the time to post much here or anywhere else for that matter. I do have fall break coming up and I should be more active then.
