Some good news for a change, the problems we had a while back with email alerts for gallery comments have now (hopefully..!) been solved.
Here is how the system will work - starting out, members are not subscribed to any photos. They will be subscribed automatically to photos they upload themselves or to photos they comment on. Once subscribed a member will receive an email notification when somebody posts a comment. Only one notification will be sent regardless of the number of comments are posted, unless they visit the photo. After visiting the photo, they may again receive up to one e-mail if subsequent comments are posted.
Under 'My Subscriptions' on the gallery toolbar, members may view the pictures they are currently subscribed to and unsubscribe from photos. If someone does not wish to be subscribed automatically, they may go to My Subscriptions and change Automatic Subscriptions to No, then Save. They may still choose to manually subscribe to a photo by clicking Enable Notification above the comment box. Members with automatic subscriptions enabled may also make use of the Enable Notification link to subscribe to photos they did upload or comment on.
Should anyone wish to have subscription enabled for all pictures they previously uploaded or commented on, please let me know and I'll forward your request to Patrick, who has very kindly worked hard to enable this feature, which has been sadly lacking.
