Today I have gotten a new keyboard and mouse for my computer. And I like to confuse people by using my mouse left handed ;D
Heh. I am left handed, and I use the mouse right-handed ;D
I'll be working on getting my third book finished. ;D
I've mostly been tidying up before college, Also been planning a trip to another collector in Minnesota and looking for a place to fix my bike up. (The transmission shifter cable is all out of alignment and I have no clue how to get it back into square again)
Been to the eye clinic at the hospital for a checkup. I have a hole in the retina of my left eye, which means the central vision is screwed, and the peripheral vision is rather like looking through a net curtain. The other eye has compensated for it though, and I can see much better with it than I used to, although I still need glasses for reading and using the computer.
No change from the last time it was checked, which I suppose is good, given that it will never get any better.
Had a good folk music session at one of the local pubs, we hadn't been since before Covid so it was good to get back into the swing of playing again 8)
It was a most excellent evening.! ;D
Changed the Oil in my car with one of my buddies, my car hit 70k after driving up to Minnesota and it needed to be changed. Went well with no issue other than the quart of used oil on the garage floor... :-[
Oops.!
Installed Firefox on my computer after putting it off for years, slowly getting things adjusted now. 8)
You won't regret it, I've been using Firefox since it was in the beta release. 8)
Gave our car Christopher (https://trad-lighting.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pid=170) a good clean inside, we want to keep him looking nice, as we're keeping him until one of us falls to bits ;D
I'm not saying a word...
Today's project consisted of cleaning and de-greasing the engine bay on the my 1993 Subaru Legacy ( The SubaFord for those who know me) I also replaced the dead A/C compressor . I now have working A/C again !!
Yay ;D
What have we been doing..? Not a lot, but we'll be going to the pub for our weekly folk music session this evening 8)
It was a very good session and I led a tune.! ;D
Mostly been getting ready for college and cleaning, there's quite a lot of little things that I've been occupied with doing. My car is all prepped for when I move next week now. Still organizing the mess of my room and getting all the essentials ready for college. 8)
Would that be beer.? :mrg:
My lawyers have advised me not to comment... ;D
We had a good music practice session today. 8)
We did, and we're slowly learning new tunes 🎶 8)
Drove back home for fall break, took me about 11 hours. Chicago traffic was really bad but I managed to escape alive and the rest was smooth sailing. 8)
Wow, 11 hours, not all in one go, I hope..? @-@
I must be geting old, these days I can't go for more than two or three hours without stopping for a drink and/or the loo, and anything over about 300 miles calls for an overnight stop :-\
I didn't know that your car was wind powered... :mrg:
@Ria: No, I stopped 4 times, 3 to rest and 1 to go grab lunch. Still was rough on me doing it alone and I've been recovering from being ill last week.
@Sammi: Smooth sailing figuratively of course, the car is powered by gasoline and drives on a road. ;D
We hope that you're betterer now. :-*
We've just started to watch A Car is Born (https://trakt.tv/shows/a-car-is-born/seasons/all) and the presenter is a complete nutter.! 8)
Spent the last couple days back at home for thanksgiving, heading back Sunday. 8) Ironically I got sick again right before driving back this week but its much more mild than it was last month. Today I went over to a buddy's house who just got a 1966 chevy bel air to give it a look over with him. Tomorrow I might have the chance to drive it, I'll let you know. Currently has a 283 ci V8 and a 2 speed automatic in it which we plan on swapping for a more potent setup.
Yup, definitely needs a more potent set up than that, though that wouldn't be difficult... :mrg:
Yeah, All we need to do is look for a secondhand 350/383 chevy small block and a manual transmission and it all should bolt right up. All those Chevy engines from that era are built like legos where you can swap drivetrains with very little fuss. Current top speed with the 2 speed transmission is about 70mph.
You should be able to sell the old engine/trans for decent money as 283's and powerglides are getting rather rare nowadays .
Drove back to Indiana, not much to report other than I got stuck in Chicago traffic. However, right before I hit traffic while I was on the outskirts of Chicago, I caught the HPS lights still left on I-80 warming up. What surprised me was going under an underpass I saw SOX lights being used! I got to see them warm up piece by piece under each bridge I drove under. Couldn't get any photos of it as I was driving but it was a nice site. I don't think I've seen LPS in public use in America at all. :lps:
@wide-lite 1000 I'll let him know about that, they are the original drive train pieces to the car. I wasn't able to drive it yesterday as snow was in the area but I should get a chance to over winter break after he fixes the power steering and carb issues.
You'll have to go back as a passenger so that you can get pictures.! :lps:
If I have the chance to I definitely will. 8) I've been on that section of I-80 before as a passenger, but only during the daytime and I never noticed the LPS tucked under the bridges.
De-rusted the chain on my bike using a gallon of vinegar, a bucket, a wire brush and hell of a lot of effort. Got most of the rust knocked off the chain then cleaned it up with brake clean then hit it with some new chain grease to protect it. It was a bit of a pain to do as the chain had no master link and I did not have the tools to take it off, so I just de rusted it one section at at time. Rides a lot smoother now and with a lot less noise. ;D Over the summer I plan on building a different bike with a small 4 stroke engine so i can get between college campuses quickly and in style. :mrg:
Eh..? A chain without a master link..? Never heard of that before, how was it put together..? Are you sure you're looking at the right side..? :wndr:
It was actually yesterday, but I had my first session at the cardiac rehab clinic, and things went very well. 8)
