I'm not familiar with the Stella brand. Confused
As a lamp that is... Laughing

Yeah, I hadn't heard of it as a lamp either, and even more surprising it was a Philips label. Also didn't know any mercury lamps were manufactured at Hamilton. Smile

I wish we'd had the chance to go round the factory before it closed. Sad Crying or Very sad
Mind you they made everything there at one point.! Surprised

I drove by it but never thought you could maybe get a tour. Surprised . I'm surprised I didn't stop and rake in their bins. That's how I get a lot of electronic junk. Very Happy

As Sammi said, they made everything at Hamilton; shavers, radios, lamps, lanterns, you name it. The saddest sight I ever saw was a photo in a local newspaper somebody put online of the rubble that was left after they demolished it Crying or Very sad

Yes, there were a number of manufacturing plants in the area at one time. My wife was just saying there was a Philips telephone company near by that changed hands and then closed in the 1990s. We've lost a lot of manufacturing works. I used to work in computer manufacturing. There were loads of places including semiconductor fabs, all gone now.

Yeah, Britain is no longer the workshop of the world. Crying or Very sad
