UHP beam in the rain 1
|
The light beam projected by the UHP lamp is particularly visible in the rain. Here I put the projector inside so water won't be sucked in by the system's forced ventilation. It is interesting to note the uneven light pattern on the right, caused by a light refraction in the water droplets that depends on its color. There is even a dark zone where light does not emerge from the droplets at the viewing angle of the camera, which is caused by total internal light reflection. The next picture there shows those effects more closely. As expected, the rain broadens the light beam due to scattering and refraction. The light "blobs" around the beam are caused by the back-reflections of the xenon flash I used to illuminate the scene.
