Robertson Carbon Filament
Testing this very lucky carbon filament lamp. I fell 6ft off a shelf, bounced on a carboard box before landing on the carpet tonight. Says a lot for the lamp that the filament stayed intact never mind that the glass survived. It’s going into a padded box now. Ria this lamp came from a store room under Robert Gordon’s Institute of Tech, as it was back then, in Aberdeen.

Lovely old lampses, how long ago, wonder if they've got still got any interesting stuff..? It's not too far from us, as you know..!

Oh, 1980s, under the old buildings at Schoolhill when it used to be the School of Engineering. If I remember correctly there were tunnels under the road between buildings and some storage areas down there. Pretty sure they will have been cleared out. They were full of interesting stuff including a huge reel to reel video recorder that used valves. I would have given it a home but it was huge and heavy. Also salvaged a core-memory board from a mainframe computer used on an oil platform at one point. Ah, the memories, some good toys to play with in that job. Smile

Yeah, I didn't really think there'd be anything left after this time, but you never know. Don't forget to give us a call next time you're out this way.
