Old Philips Museum - part 1

Visitors to the old Philips museum, now gone, were greeted with this nice ceramic tile artwork featuring the Philips factories in Eindhoven in 1916, a gift made for the 25-year jubilee of the company. Written in Dutch at the bottom: "Token of gratitude of the inhabitants of Eindhoven and the surroundings to the N.V. Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken (incandescent lamp manufactures) in Eindhoven". Philips did a lot for the economic and cultural development of the city back then (that was a different era for sure) and people were grateful for that. The 125-year jubilee of the company, back in 2016, came and went mostly unnoticed...

I didn’t know there was a Philips Museum in Eindhoven anymore! That’s good to know, I last made a trip to see the Evoluon shortly before it sadly closed. I used to write to them with technical ideas as a small kid (about 14) and they always wrote back with helpful information.

The place shown in that series is sadly gone now, replaced by a mundane marketing museum, which is a disgrace compared to its former version...

The things we have lost and will never see the like of again... Sad bulb icon

That's why we must cherish the present and make the most of it, because that's exactly what will be said of now in the future.
