Rather you than me, I am officially useless when it comes to things mechanical. Electrics I'm fine with, but anything that involves nuts, bolts and/or large bits of metal and I'm no good to anybody  ::)

It'll be all right in the end, so if it isn't all right, it isn't the end.

Hung out with my buddy who owns the 1966 bel air, he recently bought a Chevy 305 engine out a wrecked 1980s caprice for it. Helped him tear apart the bottom end of the engine, was in fairly nice shape except for the rod bearing on Cyl #7 having a big gash in it. He plans on doing a quick and dirty rebuild on the 305 and put it into the bel air while he works on rebuilding the original 283 with more performance oriented components. The 283 still runs fine, it's just a very tired motor at this point and it started to burn some decent amounts of oil. The 283 will go back in hopefully connected to a 4 speed manual of some kind. 8)

The tape counter wasn't working, so we took the cover off, and the little toothed belt has snapped. :(
A replacement has been ordered though, and once it gets here we'll fit it.  8)
The seller is also giving Ria a refund of fifty quid, which more than covers the cost of the new belts. ;D

Today we connected up the Revox B77 tape recorder that we bought from eBay a couple of weeks ago. We collected it from the seller while we were away, he offered to ship it, but we didn't want to risk it being damaged by the parcel smashers :-X

Never could stand garlic. A bloke I used to work with used to eat the stuff raw, you always knew when he was about, you could smell him well before you saw him :mrg:

Sheesh.!
I think I can top that though. the sister of a friend of mine was making a recipe that required two cloves of garlic... :wndr:
Unfortunately she didn't know the difference between a clove and a bulb of garlic.!  :poof:

I absolutely HATE most modern cars !! :curse:  95% are built to be almost unserviceable ! I'll pretty much guarantee that the hose and clamp were installed on the engine BEFORE the engine was installed in the car !

My brother had a SUV that required unbolting the engine/trans.  and moving them forward in the chassis 3" in order to remove and replace the heater core  :poof: . Since he lives in Nevada  , he drove it for 3 years with no heat .
