  • Members are expected to be respectful of other members.

  • If you have a dispute with another member that breaches site rules, report it to the administrative team to be dealt with. Please use common sense when doing so.

  • Quoting on the immediately previous post is not allowed, any instances of this will be removed, also please trim long posts that you're quoting to the relevant bit.
The preferred method to use is @[username] instead.

  • Please do not post smiley only replies, they will be deleted.

  • There is to be NO political discussion on this forum; any such occurrence of this will be removed and the member concerned warned.

  • It is preferable to keep the use of [img] tags in forum posts to a minimum, use the attach files option, or link to a gallery picture or off site file instead.

Trad-Lighting picture rules.

  • Upload unique pictures if possible, flooding the gallery with multiple images of the same type of fixture or lamp is not recommended. If you have several images pick your best one and upload that. If you want to show them all, up to 4 [img] tags per upload are permitted, or use a collage.

  • You are allowed to upload a maximum of two examples of the same type of lantern at a time, or three uploads if showing it from different angles.
These must be actual pictures of fixtures or lamps, not drawings or computer generated imagery.

  • You can upload drawings to the off-topic gallery or host them off site and link to them in forum posts if you wish.

  • Please do not upload pictures of LEDs, these are not permitted.

  • Try and upload as clear an image as possible, quality over quantity wins every time. Avoid shots that are too cluttered or are poorly lit if possible.

  • Please avoid taking pictures out of a car window, unless there is no other way of taking it. The only permitted exception is if the picture is of an extremely rare lamp that is unlikely to be seen again.

  • The central focus of the image should dominate it, we do not want to see a tiny speck in the distance.

  • The preferred angle for taking a shot of a fixture is the ¾ angle as that shows the side and bottom simultaneously, other angles are acceptable, but should be reserved for specific reasons.

  • Night shots are most certainly welcome, but bear in mind that most 400W MV lamps look  the same under these circumstances, so again pick your best one and go with that.

  • When uploading the warm-up sequence of a lamp, consideration should be given to how many individual pictures are needed.

  • When using [img] tags in gallery upload descriptions, please consider how many you actually need. We suggest no more than four, but this rule may be relaxed in some circumstances, please contact the admins. Otherwise, if you can't make a collage of them, then make additional uploads.

  • Please keep the length of the picture title to a minimum. A brief description is all that is needed. Any further information can be included in the description of the picture.

  • Street View images should only be posted when you have seen the fixture yourself, and you intend to replace the image with one of your own as soon as you can. You should not be trawling through Street View looking for pictures of fixtures to post on the gallery. Members from that area should have the opportunity to post a picture of the fixture for themselves.

  • The administrators of this site reserve the right to remove duplicate or redundant images. This only applies to your own pictures and every effort will be made to work with you before the team takes action.

  • Third Party pictures are permitted under the following conditions:
  • Full attribution should be given to the original owner of the picture if possible. Every effort should be made to ascertain this information.
  • Where applicable cite the copyright, and that you have the relevant permissions to post the image.

We hope the above isn't too onerous, at the end of the day, all you really need to remember is Be Nice and Post Good Stuff
